into the professional levels of recreational diving
begins with the Divemaster program. Working closely with
a team of instructors, in this program you expand your
dive knowledge and hone your skills to the professional
level. Divemaster training develops your leadership
abilities, qualifying you to supervise dive activities
and assist instructors working with student divers.
What is the
value of Divemaster certification?
After
you’ve completed the Rescue Diver course, you’re ready
for the Divemaster course. Divemaster training develops
your leadership abilities by teaching you to supervise
dive activities and assist instructors with student
divers. This is the first level in the ranks of
professional scuba diving.
As a
certified Divemaster you may:

Work with local dive centers, on
live-aboard dive boats, yachts and at exotic resort
locations

Assist Instructors with scuba classes
-
Lead Scuba Divers on guided dive tours

Teach and certify Skin Divers
-
Conduct Scuba Review programs for
certified divers
-
Conduct Discover Local Diving
orientations
-
Teach the Digital Underwater Photographer
Specialty Course after successfully completing a Digital
Underwater Specialty Instructor Training Course.

Teach Emergency First Response CPR and
First Aid programs after completing the Emergency First
Response instructor training program.
What are
the requirements?

Minimum age: 18 years old
-
A desire to become professional diver
-
Advanced Open Water certification (Or
qualifying certification from a recognized organization)

Rescue Diver certification (or qualifying
certification from a recognized organization)
-
Minimum of 20 logged dives
What does
it take?
During the
Divemaster program, you learn dive leadership skills
through both classroom and independent study. You
complete water skills and stamina exercises, as well as
training exercises that stretch your ability to organize
and solve problems. You put this knowledge into action
through an internship or series of practical training
exercises.

Knowledge Development: 13 topics ranging
from dive theory to assisting student divers in training
-
Learn dive leadership skills through
discussion sessions and by using the Divemaster Manual
and DVD.
-
Complete a series of water skills and
stamina exercises in confined and open water
environments.
-
Three required training exercises that
test organizational and problem solving abilities:
-
Mapping a dive site, including underwater
and surface features.
-
Equipment exchange: demonstrate the
ability to solve unanticipated problems underwater.

Conduct a simulated or actual class,
under the supervision of an Instructor.

Internship or Practical Training
Exercises: (choose one)

Internship: Hands-on experience
supervising and assisting divers in actual programs,
under the guidance of an Instructor .

Practical Training Exercises: Simulated
scenarios in supervising and assisting divers, under the
supervision of an Instructor.

Must
have a minimum of 60 logged dives to complete the
Divemaster course.

a set start and finish schedule. Instead, you can enter
the program at any time, and progress at your own pace.
You simply attend scheduled class, pool, and open water
sessions as you wish and complete the course as your
schedule and comfort allows.
